She discusses the Victorian approach to sexuality, mental illness and extreme bodies using three Victorian fictional texts.
“It was the Victorian tendency to record, label and list anything and everything regarding the science of sexology and the categorization of ‘perversities’. The diagnoses of these ‘conditions’ are the reason that it is impossible to discuss sexuality in the Victorian period without also discussing psychology.”
